Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Grant Writer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for the museum's programs, exhibitions, and operational needs. This role is vital to our mission of preserving and sharing cultural heritage, and it offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our community and beyond.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in grant writing, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural institution.

  • Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • strong research and analytical skills to identify and evaluate funding opportunities.

  • Ability to develop detailed budgets and financial plans.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Research and Strategy:

  • Identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of prospective and existing grant opportunities.

  • Proposal Development:

  • Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals that align with the museum's mission and strategic goals.

  • Collaborate with museum staff to gather necessary information and documentation for grant applications.

  • Develop project budgets and ensure all financial information is accurate and aligns with grant requirements.

  • Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare and submit required reports for awarded grants, ensuring compliance with all grant terms and conditions.

  • Monitor grant-funded projects to ensure they remain within the scope and budget of the grant.

  • Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with grant-making organizations and donors.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment on grant objectives and outcomes.

  • Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain detailed records of all grant applications, submissions, and outcomes.

  • Assist in other fundraising activities and special projects as needed.
