Manager of Budgeting and Reporting

POSITION SUMMARY: The Budget Manager helps keep the organization's finances on track. Focus is on the effective use of resources in support of the organization's mission. Under the direction of the Finance Director, the individual will work with managers to develop department budgets, analyze budgets to develop forecasts based on past spending, economic trends and anticipated costs, and create various accounting reports to assist with expenditure controls. The individual also provides finance and budgeting report management of day-to-day services and staff to the affiliate organizations.

Budget: Overall budget and reporting for the organization's consolidated financial statements and accounts

  • Works with program and project managers to develop department budgets

  • Informs department directors of due dates for the submission of budget information

  • Act as an advisor to department director in formulating budget submissions and strategies

  • Reviews budget submissions for completeness and accuracy

  • Creates a consolidated budget version for management approval

  • Consults with managers to ensure that budget adjustments are made in accordance with programs

  • Monitors spending to ensure that it is within budget

  • Reviews operating budgets to analyze trends affecting budget needs

  • Informs managers of the status and availability of funds

  • Estimates future financial needs

  • Compares actual to budgeted results at the end of each reporting period and report on variances

  • Develops forecasts based on past spending and economic trends.

  • Other duties as assigned

Grants Management:

  • Responsible for financial management, budgeting and forecasting of grants and contracts



  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or similar field

  • Master's or CPA degree preferred

  • Experience with program and benefit analysis regarding revenue production and cost savings opportunities

  • Knowledge of fiscal administration, accounting and budgeting policies, networks and procedures

  • Experience with program and benefit analysis regarding revenue production and cost savings opportunities

  • Knowledge of a range of accounting and association software

  • Experience managing accounting software conversions

  • Creative, innovative, effective and competent

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, including excellent organizational skills
