Description

What You Will Do

You will play a significant role in designing and developing services to support the deployment and operation of our SaaS product. You will also help operate the infrastructure and applications that our SaaS customers rely on, including responding to alerts and troubleshooting production issues. You will work with our development squads to help them successfully own the operation of their services in production - from making setting up new observability easy to teaching good incident management practices. You will mentor and coach junior engineers, guiding them in best practices and helping them grow their skills.

Your Passion:

Passionate about smoothly running production software, you enjoy automating away toil and providing a platform for software delivery that developers delight in using.

Your Skills:

You are known for efficiently solving difficult problems by exercising the tools at your disposal and writing custom software when off-the-shelf tools do not suffice. You enable the entire company to be more effective with their software development and delivery by developing the platform services they need.

When a production incident occurs, you often jump in, quickly mitigating the immediate symptoms and tenaciously pursuing and discovering the root cause. Meticulous and detail-oriented, you advocate for unit testing, continuous integration, and elegant solutions. Bugs are your adversaries, and you take pleasure in immediately addressing them. Eliminating technical debt while refactoring code excites you.

Collaboration:

Eager to collaborate through pair programming and contribute to team acceleration, you consistently review and provide actionable feedback on code. You are passionate about solving problems with other equally passionate product- and user-focused engineers. Because you actively engage with the developers using your platform, you know what friction they are experiencing. You may even keep your list of future improvements to address this issue.

The Tech Stack:

Comfortable across the tech stack, you excel in a JVM language, Python, or Go for backend functionality. You are familiar with provisioning infrastructure with Terraform, deploying applications to Kubernetes, leveraging cloud platforms, or creating Grafana dashboards for observability, showcasing your proficiency in at least one of these technologies.

Your Drive:

A desire for impact drives you, you do not wait to be told what to do. When you see an area for improvement, you advocate for it and often solve it yourself through your innovation. I'd like to point out that you are proactive in seeking and providing feedback, and you should maintain open communication about growth opportunities with your manager(s) and colleagues.

Armed with a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience, you bring years of experience as an engineer, having made core contributions to critical software projects.

Travel:

Getting together in person once a year is something you'd look forward to. Seeking work-life balance, you aspire to contribute your skills to a scale-up with a promising future, surrounded by a diverse group of intelligent, collaborative individuals.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Have at least 4 years of professional experience in software development, with a solid record of designing and building complex software systems.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.

  • Have experience working with cloud platforms and technologies, preferably AWS or Azure
