job summary:
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Director of Transportation to lead their Transportation Engineering Department across six offices. This is a direct hire opportunity located in Schaumburg IL.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in IDOT roadway and bridge design projects and a passion for mentoring and leading engineering teams. This person will be familiar with IDOT codes and regulations
Qualifications
Experience with highways, cross sections, bike paths and walking paths
Design experience plotting highways with Civil 3D and other design programs
Excellent leadership and client relation skills
BS Civil Engineering
PE preferred

responsibilities:
Leading the Transportation Department and overseeing and mentoring multiple Project Managers across multiple offices.
Managing and tracking the Department's Backlog.
Leading Department Staffing Coordination Meetings.
Manage client relationships and actively cultivate new business connections.
Work with Business Development Team to identify IDOT PTB Items to pursue.
Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Checks on all projects
Managing and designing current IDOT Phase I and II engineering projects as well as County and Municipal Transportation projects.
Interpret specifications and drawings, recommend and document design modifications, and coordinate with the design team.
Assist with and prepare proposals to obtain new transportation projects.
