job summary:
A Mechanical Drafter is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Rapid City, SD area. This position is responsible for preparing 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using Creo 3D software, assisting engineers in troubleshooting designs and drawings, and maintaining engineering release and change documentation.

responsibilities:
Create and/or modify 3D models and engineering drawings in conformance to company engineering standards and specifications for use in manufacturing.
Ensure engineering change documentation conforms to company engineering standards and specifications.
Assist engineers in troubleshooting designs.
Interface with engineers and peers as necessary to ensure all facets of project's scope are met.
Complete projects in a timely manner to meet customer due dates.
Communicate with Team lead daily on project status, delays and issues encountered.
Skills:
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
Team player and detail oriented.
Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
Intermediate level experience with parametric 3d modeling and drafting softwares (i.e. Autodesk Inventor, Solidwork, Creo).
Education and Experience:
2 year technical school degree in computer aided drafting program or other related manufacturing discipline (i.e. machining, welding, etc), or
2+ years equivalent experience.
