job summary:

A Quality Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Pontiac, IL area. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards, analyzing data, leading problem resolution, and collaborating with teams to ensure product integrity and compliance, requiring strong technical and communication skills and a background in engineering.

work hours: 8am to 4pm

responsibilities:

  • Review and approve sampling procedures and designs.

  • Evaluate and report quality and reliability data.

  • Supervise programs to assess precision and accuracy of production and testing equipment.

  • Conduct training sessions on quality control activities.

  • Specialize in quality control engineering areas (design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development, administrative application).

  • Direct workers in measuring and testing product quality.

  • Plan and direct development, application, and maintenance of quality standards.

  • Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation using engineering knowledge.

  • Manage quality control programs.

Position's Contributions to Work Group:

  • Power Electric Tank Unit (PETU) Internal Quality.

  • Lead and improve internal quality with the Small Business Team.

Typical Task Breakdown:

  • Analyze scrap and rework data.

  • Lead internal 8D problem resolution.

  • Assist with containment of supplier quality non-conformances.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.

  • 5 to 10 years of experience.

Technical Skills (Required):

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • strong problem-solving skills.

Technical Skills (Desired):

  • Knowledge of Minitab.
