The Controller will oversee all accounting activities and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a deep understanding of Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting, Percentage of Completion methods, and the unique financial aspects of the contracting or service industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in progress billings and possess strong leadership skills to manage the accounting team effectively.

responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting and Percentage of Completion calculations.
Oversee progress billings and collections to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and prepare necessary documentation.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
Mentor and manage the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA preferred.
8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with a strong background in the contracting or service industry.
In-depth knowledge of Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting and Percentage of Completion methods.
Proven experience in managing progress billings and collections.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA certification.
Experience in the HVAC or construction industry.
Familiarity with SAGE 100 systems and advanced financial software.
