DevOps Technical Lead

job summary:

We have a 6 month contract role for a DevOps Technical Lead with a client of ours in Morrisville. We are looking for candidate who have previous Lead experience but still get into the weeds on a daily basis. We are especially interested in candidates with Azure experience.

As the DevOps Technical Lead, you will provide hands-on technical expertise to design, deploy, and optimize our cloud services, as well as help drive technical architecture and standards/process to deliver the best customer experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hands-on development of software and automation solutions to enhance cloud services delivery and management.

  • Analyze service performance to improve quality and customer experience.

  • Ensure 24/7 service availability of Lenovo Cloud Platform by addresses reported issues and providing root cause analysis.

  • Work with product management, engineering, and customer success teams to ensure successful deployments and address service delivery issues.

  • Translate business and functional requirements into documented user stories, technical tasks, diagrams (sequence, use case, etc), and/or documentation.

  • Facilitate & lead backlog grooming, sprint planning sessions, and deliverables with other members of the team

Basic Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of combined industry experience in software development and operations engineering.

  • 5+ years of experience working in a DevOps role in public and/or private cloud environments.

  • 2+ years of experience with source control and continuous integration tools such as Git, Subversion, BitBucket, and Jenkins.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more public cloud providers like Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine, and Alibaba Cloud.

  • Software Engineer with a passion for DevOps.

  • Experience with Linux-based systems, administration, scripting, and automation frameworks - Ubuntu, CentOS, bash, python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.

  • Experience delivering cloud services and distributed systems including deployment, monitoring, scaling, and debugging.

  • Exposure and usage to container scheduling, management, deployments, and security using Kubernetes, Ambassador, Istio, SOPS, Rancher, Helm, or similar solutions.

  • Understands the importance of observability and how to enable it using tools such as Datadog, NewRelic, Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, and Jaeger.

  • Similar understanding of Windows-based environments - C#/.NET, IIS, and PowerShell.

  • Designed and implemented cloud-based systems for global availability which include chaos engineering.

  • Familiarity with database and messaging bus systems, and object storage technologies (including global data replication) - Kafka, VerneMQ, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL.

  • Experience building SaaS solutions at scale using technologies and concepts such as CDN, messaging, caching, batching, rate-limiting, GTM/GSLB.

  • Serve as SME and design lead on project teams solving real-world problems in architecture, cloud resiliency and deployment at scale.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
