Responsibilities
Set up and operate brake press machinery to bend and form sheet metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Select and install tooling, dies, and fixtures on the brake press machine, ensuring proper alignment and setup for each job.
Load and unload sheet metal blanks into the brake press, positioning them accurately for bending and forming operations.
Program and adjust machine settings, such as bend angle, bend radius, and back gauge position, to achieve precise bending results.
Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality standards and meet production targets.
Inspect formed parts for accuracy, dimensions, and quality, performing quality checks using measuring tools and gauges.
Troubleshoot machine issues and perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn tooling.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in metal fabrication is preferred.
Proven experience as a brake press operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in setting up and operating brake press machinery, including programming and adjusting machine settings.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Experience working with sheet metal materials and knowledge of metal fabrication techniques.
The essential functions of this role include:
