Responsibilities
A CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operator is responsible for setting up and operating CMM machines to precisely measure the physical geometrical characteristics of objects. Their key responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to determine measurement requirements, programming the CMM using software to carry out automated measurements, and manually inspecting parts as necessary. They must ensure accuracy by calibrating the machine and maintaining its cleanliness and operational readiness. Additionally, they analyze measurement data to verify product compliance with quality standards, document results, and report any discrepancies to relevant stakeholders. A CMM operator also collaborates with engineers and quality control teams to resolve measurement issues and improve processes.
