The position is for a D365 Business Central Functional Consultant to support the D365 Business Central system.

The D365 Business Central Functional Consultant is a specialist role and acts as an interface between the Finance team and IT department. This position provides subject matter expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders in the areas of finance data, business systems, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This position requires an experienced, business systems analyst and administrator that uses advanced Microsoft Dynamics 365 and accounting competence and tools to provide financial systems support, project management support, month-end close management, financial reports, and issue resolution to internal and external stakeholders at various levels.

The D365 Business Central Functional Consultant role is to analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of the Finance stakeholders to improve the finance system. This includes gathering and compiling user requirements to understand the technology solutions they need. Job duties include reviewing policies, identifying risks, making systems more efficient, creating training materials for new employees, and streamlining financial processes using financial technology. They will also utilize best practices and methodologies to design, configure, implement, support, and maintain the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central system.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting (preferred) or related field or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of Microsoft Dynamics 365, specifically Business Central

• 5+ years finance or accounting process and system experience

• Must have a solid understanding of accounting processes, workflows, and financial statements in D365

• Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholder teams to resolve inconsistencies and abnormalities in financial data

• Must have a solid understanding of software implementation life cycle, project management, business process management, requirements definition, functional design, quality management, and change management

• Exceptional analytical and statistical skills with the ability to them to systems issues and products as required

• Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts

• Must have a solid understanding of accounting/finance business processes, and accounting policies/GAAP

• Must have solid system/technical skills in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Must have solid skills working with business intelligence software such as Power BI

• Well organized; demonstrated planning, time management and prioritization skills

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for all levels of the business (including technical and business audiences)

• Ability to obtain and maintain Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications, as applicable

Preferred Requirements

• Dynamics 365: Business Central Certifications are a plus

• Working knowledge of Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform Technologies

• Experience in modules such as General Ledger, Accounts Receivable & Payable, Purchasing, and Bank and Cash

• Experience with integrations with other business software such as Workday, SKSoft Treasury software

responsibilities:

System Design

• Duties may include business requirements gathering, design/configuration, testing, quality assurance

• Conduct interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods

• Create User Stories and Test Cases to fulfill requirements

• Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes

• Work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements, keeping projects on schedule, and recommending needed action to meet deadlines

Application Support

• Troubleshooting system issues, problem identification and resolution is key

• Troubleshooting and fixing finance related system issues by working closely with accounting users

• Must have a strong understanding of both Accounting and D365

• Ability to understand and explain the system from a user's point of view

• Understanding of debits/credits and the pervasive flow of financial activity from initiation to reporting

• Work with the relevant stakeholders and end users to take ownership of support incidents and their resolution

• Become a Product Specialist, learning the functionality 'inside and out'

• Training and supporting finance team members in the use of financial systems and procedures

• Performs end user training in one on one, webinar, and classroom style settings

• Security Administration, workflow creation and system configuration

• Perform completeness checks and posting error analysis

• Continuously strive to improve the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and quality of the month-end close process

• Review, research, and resolve support requests and inquiries for all financial data components

• Maintain general ledger accounts, hierarchies, profit centers, and cost centers

• Query and analyze finance data to investigate and resolve data quality issues to validate the accuracy and completeness of the team's finance data maintenance activities

• Provide finance data subject matter expertise in support of all business process changes, business acquisitions, divestitures, and reorganizations

• Create and maintain reporting requirements from M365, Power BI, etc. for finance team

Application Deployment & Customization

• Work with team members and independently to configure Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and key third-party products. This work would include system and security configuration, workflows as well as report customizations.

• Expert level of understanding business process in D365

• Provide feedback to the product team for improvements including gap analysis from requirements gathered to solution proposed

• Managing financial system upgrades with the IT department and working with the D365 team to design delivery schedules of systems development

• Completes project documentation such as: Functional Requirements Document, User Acceptance Test Scenarios, User Stories, and End User Training Documentation/Quick Reference Guides

• Documentation creating Process Flow Diagrams, Functional Design Documents, Business Requirement Documents, and gap analysis

• Experience with Microsoft DevOps and the agile process

• Participates in all tasks relating to feature testing, solution testing, and user acceptance testing, driving test planning and execution

• Assists with data import and export, including data conversion. Familiarity with tools in D365 to accomplish these tasks and assist users in verifying data
