Our client is a multi-national food manufacturer, with its HQ located in Newark, NJ. They are looking for a Data Steward to join their growing team on a contract basis! The Data Steward will be brought on to identify and deploy data standards and collection and maintenance rules, improve data maintenance processes to accommodate changing business and regulatory environment, and serve as a subject matter expert in HR, yet under the guidance of the Legal Data Privacy team to inform and advise HR on data protection and data privacy practices. You will also create end-to-end processes and execution frameworks for HR and other stakeholders to comply with Global Data Privacy guidelines and rules, engage with the regional and local data stewardship community to adopt and adhere to corporate, segment, or divisional data governance processes across geographies and lines of business, and set up roles and responsibilities to ensure compliance to data standards and rules and to monitor and improve data quality. responsibilities:

Assignment Family Group: Data, Analytics & Insights

Data, Analytics and Insights function connects multiple sources of information to drive decision making

through the use of data. Associates with this expertise support the business by using data to solve cross

functional problems.

Assignment Family: Master Data Management (10%)

Identify and deploy data standards and collection and maintenance rules. Set up roles and responsibilities

to ensure compliance to data standards and rules and to monitor and improve data quality. Drive change

to align strategic needs into harmonization. Introduce "data as an asset" concept and engage functions to

adopt it.

Data Stewardship (20%)

Improves data maintenance processes to accommodate changing business and regulatory environment.

In response to business initiatives or regulatory requirements, initiatives improvements or enhancements

to data standards, naming conventions, acronyms and acceptable values. Engages with regional and

local data stewardship community to adopt and adhere to corporate, segment or divisional data

governance processes across geographies and lines of business. Monitor's data quality (master data

quality) within a specific data domain. Recommend changes to data quality metrics and sets control

triggers for taking corrective action when data is outside acceptable parameters. Data stewards are not

owners of the data but rather serve as trustees to ensure adequate data quality is maintained so that data can effectively support business processes. Recommend changes to enterprise data structures, field definitions, usage, business/ data validation rules.

Data Privacy (70%)

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in HR yet under the guidance of the Legal Data Privacy team to

inform and advise HR on data protection and data privacy practices. Creates end-to-end processes and

execution frameworks for HR and other stakeholders to comply with Global Data Privacy guidelines and

rules. Designs and executes compliance with data retention rules in Workday (core HR system) and

provides guidance and consulting to HR system owners of other systems on how to comply with data

retention rules in their systems.

  • Ensures systematic compliance audits are performed and findings are acted upon e.g. HR security in

Workday (core HR system), HR Analytics use cases and HR Data Sharing is in compliance with Global

Data Privacy guidelines and rules.

  • Ensures risk management principles and processes are fully integrated in HR data management

processes.

  • Partners with SMEs to ensure an accurate and up-to-date global, regional, and local HR Data assets

inventory. Serves as an escalation point and consultant on complex Individual Rights Requests under

Data Privacy Laws e.g. Individual Rights Requests to Show Me My Data under GDPR.

  • Partners with SMEs (IT, Legal Data Privacy) to support the Mars Data Privacy Operational process and

Governance Framework and serve as a functional lead in the deployment of supporting technologies.
