job summary:

A Technical Design Consultant Engineer is needed for a leader in power and automation technologies in the Bloomfield, CT area. This position is responsible for CAD-related design, documentation, and implementation of engineering programs, ensuring compliance with standards and requirements, while collaborating with global teams and supporting manufacturing activities.

responsibilities:

  • Responsible for CAD-related design, development, and manufacturing implementation of engineering programs meeting business standards and requirements.

  • Execute designs using solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) for models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs.

  • Familiarity with SAP for supply chain management and process flow.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation including tolerance loops, drawings, BOMs, product cost, problem lists, risk management, and failure root cause analysis.

  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Prepare and maintain product documentation, instruction manuals, project notebooks, and design/test documentation.

  • Arrange design reviews, coordinate concepts, and analyze cost effectiveness of Mechanical/Electrical designs.

  • Coordinate engineering activities with R&D team and support related manufacturing activities.

  • May involve some domestic and international travel.

Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar.

  • Minimum 3 years design engineering experience, including product development of industrial and/or electrical distribution products.

  • Background in Low Voltage Switchboards or similar preferred, with knowledge of UL 891, UL 50/50E, and NEC.

  • strong communication and collaboration skills across functions and global teams.

  • Experience with design software (Creo Preferred) and PLM (Windchill preferred).
