This position serves as the financial budget and utility analyst and is responsible for performing general budgeting analyst in the Finance Department and analytical work related to the Department of Public Work's water and sewer, sanitation, and storm water utility enterprise funds. Duties include the reporting and procedural documentation of financial transactions in the public sector.

salary: $35 - $40 per hour

work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM

Responsibilities

• Develop expenditure and revenue forecasts for General Fund

• Prepare preliminary analysis for budget preparation

• Serve as Budget Liaison for Enterprise Funds

• Analyze Public Works Department bills to ensure accuracy

• Assist in bill analysis methods and revenue collection

• Track and report budget expenditure and revenue

• Provide Budget training and updates to staff

• Review proposed budget submissions for accuracy and completeness

• Make budget recommendations to Directors

• Coordinate the mandatory balancing of the Annual Financial Budget

• Participate in budget meetings and provide research

• Coordinate Budget Kick-Off and related documents

• Attend weekly meetings with Public Works Director and staff

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of governmental budgeting and accounting principles

• Familiarity with modern office procedures and equipment

• Proficiency in computer hardware and software for financial functions

• Understanding of Federal and State accounting regulations

• Knowledge of City department functions and procedures

• Ability to interpret laws and regulations, and make recommendations

• Skill in financial system assessment and implementation

• Proficiency in financial, statistical, and cost analyses

• Ability to understand and legal and financial documents

• strong mathematical and statistical skills

• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

• Ability to work independently and organize work efficiently
